Helené  directs Belly Dance International with Helené, based in Felton, CA. She has studied dance in Egypt and Morocco, has traveled extensively across Asia, and has been teaching North African and Near Eastern dance arts since 1986 in the United States and Europe. She is also a promoter and producer of live music and dance events and presents a weekly community showcase featuring local dancers at The Crêpe Place in Santa Cruz. Helené was a recipient of the 2002 Gail Rich Award for her significant contribution to the arts.
